When most people think of Ibiza, they imagine summer, beach clubs, and crowded beaches. But there’s another side of the island. In winter you can discover a completely different side of Ibiza. A quieter, more authentic, and surprisingly charming island. Plus it’s low season and you can find cheaper hotel prices.
If you’re looking for a relaxed escape, beautiful landscapes, and a taste of local life, Ibiza in winter might just surprise you.
Things to Do in Ibiza in Winter
- Explore Ibiza’s Old Town and local villages during winter
One of the first things I loved about Ibiza in winter was how peaceful everything felt. In Dalt Vila, the historic old town of Ibiza, you can enjoy a walk through its cobbled streets, and enjoy the views over the harbor without the usual crowds in summer.
Winter is also the perfect season to explore Ibiza’s small villages. Places like Santa Gertrudis, San Juan, and Sant Josep are full of character, with cozy cafés, art galleries, and restaurants.

Enjoy quiet beaches and Outdoor Activities
You may not come to Ibiza in winter for swimming, but you’ll fall in love with the island’s landscapes. With mild temperatures and clear skies, it’s the best time for long coastal walks and nature escapes. Days are often warm and sunny, with temperatures occasionally hitting 20ºC.
Some of my favorite spots are Cala Comte, Cala d’Hort, and the cliffs near Santa Eulalia, where the sea looks endless and Es Vedrà appears on the horizon like something out of a dream. Winter is also ideal for activities like hiking, cycling, and even kayaking on calm days.
- Discovering Ibiza’s Cultural and Local Side
Even though winter is low season for Ibiza, many cultural centers and museums stay open, and there are often small village festivals and markets happening throughout the season.
I recommend visiting the Ethnographic Museum in Santa Eulalia, which gives a beautiful insight into Ibiza’s rural traditions.
- Taste Local Food
While many restaurants close at the end of October (along with the clubs) you can still find many great local restaurants open during winter.With fewer tourists, restaurants focus on seasonal ingredients and traditional recipes. It’s the perfect time to try dishes like bullit de peix, sofrit pagès, and local desserts such as flaó.
Where to Stay in Ibiza in Winter
Choosing where to stay is one of the most important decisions when visiting Ibiza in winter. Since nightlife slows down and many beach clubs close, the best areas are those that stay lively year-round and are well connected.
Here are the areas and hotels I personally recommend:
- Ibiza Town (Eivissa)
If it’s your first time on the island, this is one of the best bases. Ibiza Town stays active all year, with plenty of restaurants, cafés, shops, and cultural attractions open even in winter. It’s also a great area if you’re not planning to rent a car or if you prefer moving in public transport (it’s well connected by bus). It’s perfect if you want to explore Dalt Vila, walk along the marina, and easily drive to different parts of the island.
- Santa Eulalia
This is one of my favorite places to stay in winter. Calm, elegant, and very welcoming, Santa Eulalia has a beautiful seaside promenade, excellent restaurants that remain open year-round, and a great location to explore the north of Ibiza. It’s ideal for couples and families looking for a peaceful but well connected base. - San Antonio
Once the party season is over, San Antonio becomes surprisingly quiet and pleasant. The bay area is perfect for sunset walks, seaside lunches, and easy access to some of the island’s best western beaches. It’s a great option if you want sea views and a relaxed winter vibe. -
Playa d’en Bossa
Known as one of Ibiza’s liveliest areas in summer, Playa d’en Bossa shows a completely different face in winter. Without the crowds and loud beach clubs, it becomes a quiet seaside neighborhood just a few minutes from Ibiza Town and the airport. It’s a great option if you want to stay close to the city while enjoying long walks on one of the island’s longest beaches. Many hotels and apartments remain open year-round, and its central location makes it very convenient for exploring both the south and the rest of the island.

Visiting Ibiza in winter is a completely different experience than traveling during summer. It’s quieter, more affordable, and definitely more authentic. You can explore hidden corners, enjoy incredible food, and truly relax.
