It’s Coachella season again! So I thought this would be a good time to share my first and only time in the festival in 2014.
What is Coachella? It is a music and arts festival held on consecutive three-day weekends in April. Each weekend has the identical lineup. Aside from attending the festival, spectators can also camp on the grounds, taking the experience to another level.
Transport & Accommodation
- The festival is held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, located in Coachella Valley. In my case,I took a flight from Vancouver to LAX and took the Coachella bus to Palm Springs, which is about 30 km away from Indio. Make sure you book your accommodation in advance because everything is booked up some months before the festival. I recommend staying at The Saguaro. The Coachella Shuttle is a great oprion to go to and from the festival, as it gives you the flexibility to ride at any time you wish.
The festival
- The Coachella Experience starts at the very first moment you receive the welcome box with the wristbands and you start counting the days for that weekend. The excitement gets higher when you are greeted by the hottest desert climate in Palm Springs. And at the fields the electric environment is just magical.
Music is (next to travel) my passion. So being able to combine both travel & music was an amazing experience. I’ve attended to different gigs in BA since I was a teenager but I’ve never been to a festival before Coachella, so I didn’t have much expectations before getting there.
Coachella is known for its fashion as much as it’s known for music. As a music lover, I was kind of irritated by the fact that many people attend this massive festival not for the music, but because its fashion.
Then I understood that the point is that at this massive events, musicians are able to reach more people because the crowd is very diverse. It is a great place for new artists to emerge and a fantastic option for music lovers to discover new music.
No matter why you decide to go there, you will have the most amazing time dancing in the desert!

Now THAT is a cool festival outfit
- Coachella is not only a music festival but also an ART festival. You will find a great variety of unique giant art installations amoung the fields. There are plenty of things to do apart from listening to great music: getting a ride on the ferris wheel, attending the pool parties, getting inside the different tents. Coachella has it all.
- Coachella is fun, hot, exhausting, bizarre, atonishing and beautiful. It was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had and I would reppeat it again every year. What about you? Have you ever been to Coachella?
